Reuben is a celebrity photographer for the New York Post, Playbill, playbill.com and Playbill National Magazine, his agency is London Features International. Reuben's column Aubrey's Broadway appears in the Hampton Sheet. He is one of the eighteen profiles in the recently published book, On Broadway Men Still Wear Hats by Robert Simonson. The Broadway season has opened with three musicals; "[title of show]", "A Tale of Two Cities" and "13". Sorry, but I can't recommend anyone of them. For plays, three revivals have opened, and of the three, only "The Seagull" is a certified hit. All three, have wonderful actors in them, so it is worth a visit to see the brilliant Kristin Scott Thomas in "The Seagull", Frank Langella in "A Man for All Seasons", and a surprisingly, fine performance by Daniel Radcliffe in "Equus". Off Broadway, there are three well acted plays: "The First Breeze of Summer", "Fifty Words" and "Fault Lines", and now is the last chance to see "Forbidden Broadway Goes to Rehab", before it closes at the end of the year. The New York City Opera has an abbreviated series of performances all over the city, and the New York City Ballet does not perform until "The Nutcracker" returns in November. Ballet fans can see the ABT at City Center for two weeks, beginning October 21. Do attend the New York Film Festival. Among the offerings, are "The Wrestler" with an incredible performance by Mickey Rourke, Clint Eastwood's "Changeling", and from France, "The Class", "A Christmas Tale" with a surprisingly, dramatic Catherine Deneuve and "Let It Rain". Many other countries are also represented with interesting features, but these five should certainly be on your list. But, thank goodness, we have the Metropolitan Opera. Unfortunately, I have only been able to attend two operas, but what performances! "Don Giovanni" with Erwin Schrott and "Lucia di Lammermoor" with Diana Damrau in the title roles were two of the finest evenings I have enjoyed recently. Erwin Schrott and Diana Damrau gave memorable performances, and I can guarantee that opera fans will be as enthusiastic as I am. Highly recommended.
