What are Cookies? What are they for?

A website can use Cookies to store information on your computer. To keep track of when you revisit their site or temporarily store information that is used while you are using a program on that website, Many times websites that require you to login will need you to enable cookies. They store information on your computer that tells the website you are logged as you move from page to page on that website.

How to Enable Cookies

Follow the directions below.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.x
  • On the "Tools" menu, select "Internet Options".
  • Then select the "Privacy" tab.
  • Click the "Advanced" button.
  • Click the "Default" button.
  • Check the "Override automatic cookie handling" box.
  • Under "First-party Cookies", select "Accept".
  • Under "Third-party Cookies", select "Accept".
  • Check the "Always allow session cookies" box.
  • Click the "OK" button.
Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x
  • On the "Tools" menu, select "Internet Options".
  • Then select the "Privacy" tab.
  • Click the "Default" button.
  • Click the "OK" button.
Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.x
  • On the "Tools" menu, select "Internet Options".
  • Select the "Security" tab.
  • Click the "Custom Level" button.
  • Scroll down to the "Cookies" section.
  • Set "Allow cookies that are stored on your computer" to "Enable".
  • Set "Allow per-session cookies" to "Enable".
  • Click the "OK" button.
Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.x
  • On the "View" menu, select "Internet Options".
  • Select the "Advanced" tab.
  • Scroll down to "Cookies" in the "Security" section.
  • Select "Always accept cookies".
  • Click the "OK" button.
Mozilla Firefox 1.x / 2.x/ 3.x
  • On the "Tools" menu, select "Options".
  • Select the "Privacy" icon from the left panel.
  • Under the "Cookies" submenu, check the box corresponding to "Allow sites to set cookies".
  • Click the "OK" button.
Netscape 8.x
  • On the "Tools" menu, select "Options".
  • On the left pane, click "Privacy".
  • Click the plus sign next to "Cookies", select the action you wish to take.
Mozilla 5.0/Netscape 7.x
  • On the "Edit" menu, select "Preferences".
  • Click on the arrow next to "Privacy & Security" in the scrolling window.
  • Under "Privacy & Security", select "Cookies".
  • Select "Enable all cookies".
  • Click the "OK" button.
Netscape 4.x
  • On the "Edit" menu, select "Preferences".
  • Under the "Cookies" section in the "Advanced" category, select "Accept all cookies".
  • Click the "OK" button.
AOL 9.0
  • From the AOL Toolbar, select Settings.
  • Select Internet [Web] Options
  • Select Use your Internet Explorer Settings to set advanced browser options.
  • Select the Privacy tab 5
  • Deselect override automatic cookie handling button
  • Click OK to exit.
AOL 8.0
  • From the AOL Toolbar, select Settings.
  • Select Preferences
  • Select Internet Properties (WWW)
  • Select the Privacy tab
  • Select Advanced
  • Deselect override automatic cookie handling button
  • Click OK to exit.
AOL 7.0 and Lower
